Dr. Amber E. Bartels was born in Omaha, Nebraska. While still a toddler, her family moved to Watertown, Wisconsin, where they have been living since. Currently her mother works as a paraprofessional in a local elementary school and her father is a team leader at the Target distribution center.
Dr. Bartels graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay in 2004 with a bachelor of science in Human Biology and German. She attended optometry school at the Illinois College of Optometry in Chicago, and graduated in May 2008 as salutatorian. She has been a member of American Optometric Student Association (AOSA) and Student Volunteer Optometric Services to Humanity (SVOSH) while in optometry school. During the past year, she has completed four 3-month clinical rotations in various optometric practice setting. These rotations included: Pediatrics and Binocular Vision at Illinois Eye Institute in Chicago, Advanced Care at Vision Care of Maine in Bangor, Primary Care at the Zablocki VA Hospital in Milwaukee and Contact Lenses at Family Vision Care in Wilmington, North Carolina.
Her interests include reading, travel, and disc golf. Recently, she has taken up hiking here in Maine. And of course, she wouldn't be a true Cheese head if she didn't enjoy watching Packers football.
