Dr. Ann Yuan-Hwa Lin, M.D. was born in Taiwan, Republic of China in September of 1945. She received her Medical Doctor degree including one year of rotating internship from China Medical College in Taiwan in 1971, graduating top in her class.
She completed Ophthalmology Residency at National Taiwan University Hospital in Taipei, in 1974 and General Practice Residency at Robinson Memorial Hospital in Ravenna, Ohio in 1978. She then completed a 2-year Glaucoma Fellowship at the Department of Ophthalmology, Albany Medical College in Albany, New York in 1981. She received her board certification from the American Board of Ophthalmology in 1982.
She became an Adjunct Assistant Professor in Ophthalmology at Albany Medical College between 1981 and 1991. She was a Clinical Assistant Ophthalmologist at Albany Medical Center Hospital from 1982 to 1991 and served on the Active Medial Staff at Child’s Hospital in Albany during that same period of time. She worked as an ophthalmologist and physician coordinator at Community Health Plan in Latham, New York from 1982 to 1989 and practicing ophthalmologist at Glaucoma Services, P.C. in Albany, New York from 1989 to 1991.
She moved to Caribou, Maine in 1991 where she still lives with her husband Dr. Ryan Lin, a retired pathologist. She practiced as a solo ophthalmologist in Caribou until January of 2012. At that time, she joined the Vision Care of Maine team where she still provides medical ophthalmology care in Presque Isle. Dr. Lin is a member of the Active Medical Staff at Cary Medical Center in Caribou. She was on Courtesy Medical Staff at Calais Regional Hospital in Calais, Maine between 1992 and 2013. She also was on Active Medical Staff at Northern Maine Medical Center in Fort Kent from 1992 to 2010 and Courtesy Medical Staff between December of 2010 and December of 2012.
Dr. Lin is a fellow of American Academy of Ophthalmology. She is also a member of Maine Society of Eye Physicians and Surgeons, Maine Medical Association and Chinese American Medical Association. In addition, she is a member of Kiwanis Club of Caribou and actively participates in the various projects of the Club.
Dr. Lin’s other passions include reading, music, traveling, and visiting relatives.
