Covid Response

Vision Care of Maine is following all local and State guidelines related to Covid-19. New appointment guidelines have been implemented to keep our staff and patients as safe as possible. Please review the new guidelines below before coming into your appointment:

• Please contact our office by phone and speak with our scheduling staff prior to your appointment if you answer “yes” to any of the following:
  • Have you or someone within your household traveled in the last 14 days to an area known to be at high-risk for COVID-19?
  • Have you or someone within your household had a fever, symptoms of respiratory illness, sore throat, muscle or body aches, loss of taste or smell, nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea in the last 14 days?
  • Have you or someone within your household been tested for COVID-19 in the last 14 days?
  • Have you or someone within your household come in contact with a suspected or laboratory-confirmed COVID-19 individual in the last 14 days?
• Please bring a mask or face covering to wear when you enter any of our offices for your appointment and throughout the entirety of your visit. We are requiring all patients, visitors, and Vision Care of Maine staff to adhere to this policy.
• Upon entry to our office, all patients’ and visitors’ temperatures will be checked and they will be asked to sanitize their hands. We have hand sanitizer available in various areas of the office and encourage you to sanitize your hands frequently throughout your visit. If you need help locating hand sanitizer, please ask our staff for assistance.
• Family members accompanying patients must wait in the car while the patient is being seen unless they are needed to assist due to the patient’s physical or mental needs.
• There may be times based on patient volume where patients may be asked to wait in their car during their visit. In this case, our staff will contact the patient via cell phone to let them know we are ready to proceed with the next step in their appointment.
• Please maintain a distance of at least six feet from other patients and staff while in our office and waiting areas, when possible.
• We ask that our patients please refrain from talking during the slit lamp exam or any other times while being examined when the doctor or staff are within close proximity to the patient’s face.
